Make sure to follow the most important rule - HAVE FUN BUILDING YOUR CAR!
Pre-Race Certification: Pack Meeting Tuesday February 26th
All cars must be completed and brought to February's pack meeting where we will do a pre-race inspection and weigh in of every car. We will weigh in by den. Any necessary modifications or weight changes can be done at home between this pre-race certification and the official weigh in the day of the race.
The purpose of the pre-race certification is to have the weigh in process go quickly and smoothly on race day. However just in case, we will have a “fix it” station for very minor adjustments. Be sure to have all of your graphite applied along with your weight calculated and attached to your car prior to arriving.
Weigh in & Race Day: Saturday Morning 10 AM - March 2rd, Mendon Center Elementary Cafeteria
Scouts also vote on the Most Creative car, the car with Most Scout Spirit, and the Funniest car.
Awards and Recognition
Along with the speed awards (Top two from every den, and Top three over all from the pack) we will be giving out awards for the Most Creative car, the car with Most Scout Spirit, and the Funniest car.
Important Derby Car Design & Useful Tips:
The wood blocks provided to each Scout may be longer than the allowed car length, please make sure you remove enough material to meet the length requirement
Do not attach your weight directly to the bottom of your car. If you plan to have your weight on the bottom, It needs to be recessed into the car body to prevent your car from dragging on the track.
No scale at home? Other scouts have found the Post Office self‐postage station to be helpful.
Remember: Your car rides down a track with a raised center next to another car. It is important you follow the dimension specifications.
